Stainless Steel Waterfall Filter Box and Biological Purification Pump Test

Stainless Steel Waterfall Filter Box and Biological Purification Pump Test

In the creation of courtyard waterscape, the choice of filtration system has always been the focus of enthusiasts. As a senior player with 20 years of experience in courtyard water tank landscaping, I have tried sponge filtration, solar water pumps, DIY plastic waterfall boxes and other solutions. This year, I was fortunate to cooperate with Poposoap and experience two filtration products designed for courtyard waterscape. Its innovative design and practical functions are eye-catching. Here I share my experience with you.

1. Stainless Steel Waterfall Box: A Combination of Durability and Aesthetics

1. Stainless Steel Waterfall Box: A Combination of Durability and Aesthetics

This stainless steel waterfall box subverts the limitations of traditional plastic filter boxes. Made of 304 stainless steel, it has excellent anti-rust and anti-oxidation capabilities. Official tests show that it can be used for more than 10 years in outdoor environments. Compared with the plastic box that I used to replace the sealing ring every year, its integrated welding process fundamentally solves the hidden danger of water leakage.

The product set includes a 40W water pump, filter bag, special glue and 9.8 feet UV-resistant corrugated pipe. Particularly worth mentioning is the design of the filter bag. The fine mesh can effectively intercept fallen leaves, insect exuviae and other debris, reducing the risk of clogging the water pump. During installation, I laid a layer of volcanic rocks and water plants in the box. When the water flows through, it forms a natural waterfall landscape. With the metallic texture of stainless steel, it forms a harmonious collision of modernity and nature with the green plants in the courtyard.

2. Biological Purification Pump: Innovative Design of Double Filtration

2. Biological Purification Pump: Innovative Design of Double Filtration

Compared with the waterfall box, this water pump with integrated biological filtration is more surprising. The interior of its plastic shell is divided into three layers: the bottom pre-filter cotton intercepts large particles of impurities, the middle ceramic ring and the biological ball construct a habitat for nitrifying bacteria, and the upper biological cotton further absorbs tiny suspended matter. This design achieves the dual guarantee of mechanical filtration and biological filtration.

In the actual test, I put the aging filter material in the fish tank into the biological ball bin, and with the adjustable flow pump (up to 1000 gallons of ponds), I realized a 2-hour water quality circulation in a 200-liter water tank. It is especially suitable for quickly establishing an ecosystem when a new tank is opened, eliminating the traditional water maintenance cycle. The four-lock seal design allows the pump to be used outdoors without fear of rain intrusion, and the cable groove on the back ensures that the wiring is neat and safe.

3. Installation Practice and Scene Adaptation

(1) Key Installation Steps

Key Installation Steps

Assembly of the waterfall box: Use the matching black waterproof glue to glue the connecting eaves. Although the buckle structure is stable enough, the glue can further prevent micro-leakage. During the 2-hour standstill period for the glue to cure, the bellows can be cut to the appropriate length (I trimmed it to 2 feet according to the size of the water tank) and fixed with a hose clamp to ensure sealing.

Pump cabin layout: Rinse the ceramic ring with the original tank water in advance to prevent dust from clogging the pump body. The biological ball bin can add activated carbon or algae removal filter material according to water quality requirements. The top guide plate needs to be aligned with the water inlet of the waterfall box to form a smooth water flow circulation.

Water level adaptation: The water flow speed is controlled by the water pump flow regulating valve. It is recommended to keep the waterfall drop at 15-30 cm, which can produce a pleasant water sound and avoid splashing water and causing water loss.

(2) Multi-Scenario Application Solutions

Small courtyard water tank: A single set of equipment can meet the filtration of 80-150 liters of water, and can be matched with water hyacinth, copper coin grass and other emergent plants to form a complete ecological chain.

Koi shallow pond: Two sets of equipment are connected in series and used with a sedimentation tank to maintain the clarity of more than 300 liters of water, which is especially suitable for courtyard environments with more fallen leaves.

Desktop micro landscape: Cut the corrugated pipe to 50 cm, miniaturize the waterfall box and place it in a glass container, match it with moss and ferns to create an indoor ecological landscape.

4. Long-Term Use Experience and Cost-Effectiveness

4. Long-Term Use Experience and Cost-Effectiveness

After a month of actual testing, this system has shown significant advantages: compared with traditional plastic filter boxes, stainless steel material reduces the maintenance frequency from once a week to once a month; the biological filtration system keeps the water clear and the ammonia nitrogen content is always below 0.1mg/L. Compared with similar products, the price of about US$100 (including pump body and accessories) is very affordable, especially for players who pursue long-term durability.

It is worth noting that although the equipment has an anti-UV design, long-term exposure to the sun may still cause the rubber parts to age. It is recommended to use a sunshade net or plant climbing plants to provide appropriate shade. With the arrival of summer, the water orchids and water lilies in the water tank have sprouted new buds. The next step is to introduce killifish and snails to build a richer aquatic ecosystem.
